Dear Oak View Elementary School Parents and Community,

As principal of Oak View Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great school year. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm. We strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be ready for the next level, middle school.

We have new staff members who are great teachers that understand and have committed to spending hours of planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in active learning. The previous years of good teachers have laid the foundation. They have passed the baton to the next group of dedicated educators to continue to work hard on improving our school.

Our teachers will utilize evidence based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of post-secondary education, meaningful careers, and effective citizenship.

I am honored to serve as the principal of Oak View Elementary School. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Please feel free to contact me at 678-875-1302 or at [email protected].

Once again, welcome back! Let’s make it another great year at Oak View together!

Committed to maximizing potential,

Mrs. Sabrina Waters

Dr. Andrea Myers serves as the Assistant Principal here at Oak View Elementary School. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she began her educational career in 1990 as a teacher assistant with the Guilford County School System, where she became a certified teacher in 1992. She returned to school at North Carolina A and T State University to earn a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education in the year 2000. After relocating to Georgia in 2009, she continued her teaching career and later attended Brenau University in pursuit of her doctorate degree, which she earned in December of 2021.

Previous roles for Dr. Myers include: Assistant Principal at Rainbow Elementary School, Curriculum Specialist for Guilford County Schools, Professional Learning Facilitator for the DCSD Office of School Improvement; MTSS Specialist, Instructional Support Specialist, Academic Coach, Professional Learning Liaison, Elementary Teacher (having taught each of grades K-5) and Middle School Teacher (having taught each of grades 6-8). She brings an abundance of educational experiences to Oak View Elementary.

Dr. Myers has returned to her “first love” in education, the elementary school. With the belief that ongoing professional learning is key for effective instruction, it is her goal to work with and motivate teachers to excel in all aspects of their assignment with students; this effort assures optimal growth. She is honored and proud to serve as assistant principal here at Oak View, as she considers it to be not only a position, but a “mission.”
